how to choose a phone strap you'll actually wear
Your phone goes everywhere you do. So it might as well look the part. A phone strap keeps it within reach and frees up a hand, and the right one finishes an outfit the way a bracelet or a necklace would. Some people still call it a phone cord. We call it the piece you put on last.
Here's how to pick yours.
wrist or crossbody
Start with how you carry your day.
A short phone strap loops around your wrist. At 32 cm, it keeps your phone in your hand without ever being in the way, and it doubles as a key chain when the phone stays in your bag. It's the one for a coffee run, when you want your phone in hand the moment it buzzes.
A crossbody phone strap goes over your shoulder and leaves both hands free. Ours come in two lengths: Long (114 cm, or 108 cm on a few styles) and Extra Long (140 cm). Choose Long if you like your phone at hip height, and Extra Long if you wear it over a coat or want it to sit lower.
Can't decide? You don't have to. Every Ateljé strap clicks on and off the same case, so a short one for daytime and a crossbody for the weekend is a very reasonable plan.
In short: a wrist strap keeps one hand free, a crossbody strap keeps both free.

This is where it becomes jewellery. The material sets the mood, so pick it like you'd pick an earring.

The hardware matters too. Most of our straps close with 18K gold filled clasps engraved with the Ateljé logo. Some styles, like Love you bye and Pink pearl, come with silver coated clasps. If you already wear mostly gold or silver jewellery, match it.

cloudy 2.0, the original pearl phone strap
If you've seen a pearl strap on a phone lately, there's a good chance it started here. Cloudy was the first pearl phone strap we made. Its update, Cloudy 2.0, ended up on a transparent Ateljé case in season 4 of Emily in Paris.
Cloudy 2.0 is the version we make today. Off-white faux pearls, made from 100% recycled plastic, on a new wire that's stronger and more flexible than before. Short, 32 cm, with 18K gold filled clasps. Wear it on your wrist, or pair it with a crossbody strap when you want both.
switching straps
Hold the clasp open, hook it through the ring on your case, let go. Same on the other side. Switching takes seconds, so your strap can change with your outfit.

Our straps don't love water. Keep yours out of the rain and the shower, and it keeps its shape and colour. That's it.

What length is a short phone strap? Our short phone straps are 32 cm, long enough to wear around your wrist or use as a key chain.
How long are the crossbody phone straps? Long is 114 cm, or 108 cm on a few styles. Extra Long is 140 cm.
Will a phone strap stop me from dropping my phone? It makes it a lot less likely, because your phone stays attached to you. It's no guarantee though, so the case still does the protecting. Make sure both clasps are fully closed before you let your phone hang.
Are the pearls real? The pearls on Cloudy 2.0, Pearl drop 2.0 and our other pearl straps are faux pearls, made from 100% recycled plastic (ABS).
Can I use an Ateljé strap on a case without rings? Yes, with the phone strap connector. It adds rings to a no rings case.
Is a case included with a strap? No, straps and cases are sold separately. Our ready-made phone sets pair the two for you.
